Savor the Best of Japanese Cuisine

At Matsukaze, the menu is a celebration of classic Japanese flavors, featuring a variety of traditional dishes with a modern twist. While there are a few mentions of sushi on the menu, it is important to note that the restaurant shines in its broad selection of entrees and other Japanese staples. The sushi available is fresh, but some guests feel that it could benefit from a little more variety, as certain items, like the Philadelphia Roll, were noted for their creamy flavor rather than the expected freshness.

For those seeking a truly Japanese experience, the Chicken Teriyaki is a must-try. Perfectly grilled and glazed with a sweet, savory sauce, it embodies the balance of flavors that Japanese cuisine is famous for. Similarly, the Chicken Sukiyaki is a delicious choice, combining tender chicken with a rich, flavorful broth that will leave you coming back for more.

If you're looking for seafood, the Mahi Mahi is a standout option, crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The Crispy Mahi-Mahi is often recommended, with its delightful crunch and subtle seasoning. Alongside these dishes, Matsukaze offers a variety of appetizers like Tempura Ice Cream, Onion Rings Tempura, and Kalbi Ribs, which offer a perfect balance of textures and flavors to start your meal.

Working from out of town and stopped here because it was in my hotel dining list and the menu online looked great. This place is clean and nicely decorated and even has a couple tables where you can dine on the floor if you like. Everything was tasty and my dinner portion was huge! Leftovers for days! Your dinner comes with miso soup, a salad and green tea. The service is super fast and friendly as well and they even packed up my leftover food for me. I dined in on a Tuesday night and it wasn't busy at all. I would recommend dining here! Impressive. I don't get this where I am from.

A good place to eat if you are passing through or staying in Grants Pass. Japanese, Korean, and Hawaiian cuisine. Wait staff are friendly, kind, and understanding especially Sarah. Owner is a pleasure to chat with. Good spacing between the tables and booths, not cramped. Three Japanese style low tables too. Good prices on entrees and drinks especially beer and Sake. Kalbi ribs were nice. Meat was tender. Tempura was also good, lightly breaded, with a tasty sauce. My wife liked her Red Snapper, but I thought it needed more flavor. Pickled veggies and kimchi were good. Miso soup was little salty. Overall, a good value for the price with friendly service in a pleasant atmosphere.

The staff is friendly, inviting, and gets orders taken quickly. There is often a wait, but I haven't had mine last more than 25 minutes. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable and worth it. Their specific brand of teriyaki sauce is sold by the bottle and I bought two. The tempura ice cream is to die for and I have loved the crispy mahi-mahi since I was a little kid.

The restaurant is super cute and clean. The host was a very nice gentleman. The waitress was the best I've had so far in Grants Pass. The food was real good. The miso soup is fish base and no seaweed which was really good and not as salty as most here. The Lunch specials are a great selection. They make their dressings and it was super yummy.

My Husband and I went there this evening for Valentine's Day. We had been to a few other Restaurants in town that just kept letting us down. WOW! What can I say? Let me start with the atmosphere, tasteful soft lighting, our server Christina was amazing! So sweet and attentative. She made sure we were looked after at all times! The food? Again, just wow! So good!! We got home, sat on the couch and just relaxed. There was so much food. The prices were so incredibly reasonable and you don't leave hungry. Our new favorite restaurant! You could tell how good they are by the waiting time of people who didn't make a reservation. Make a reservation. In and out within 45 minutes!
